LG Display unveils newspaper-size flexible e-paper

 LG Display has announced its development of a newspaper-size flexible e-paper. The 19-inch wide (250x400mm) flexible e-paper is almost as big as a page of A3 sized newspaper. The product is optimized for an e-newspaper and able to convey the feeling of reading an actual newspaper. Additionally, as the product measures 0.3 millimeters thin, the e-paper weighs just 130 grams despite its 19-inch size.
LG Display arranged TFT on metal foil rather than glass substrate, allowing the e-paper display to recover its original shape after being bent. The use of a metal foil substrate makes the e-paper both flexible and durable while maintaining display qualities. In particular, LG Display applied GIP (gate-in-panel) technology which integrates the gate driver IC onto the panel. This improves its flexibility by removing driver ICs which are attached to the side of panel and hinder the bending of the display.
CTO and executive VP of LG Display, In Jae Chung said, “Our development of the world’s largest flexible display has opened up a new market in the next-generation display sector of e-paper. As the e-paper market is growing at a rapid pace, LG Display will continue to deliver new value to customers and the market through industry-leading technologies and differentiated products.”
Meanwhile LG Display plans to launch mass production of an 11.5-inch flexible e-paper display in the first half of 2010.
LG Display cited DisplaySearch saying that the e-book market will grow from approximately US$370 million in 2009 to US$1.2 billion in 2011 and to US$1.73 billion in 2017.


Future New Purposes For GPS Tech

A few years ago, Tech Radar wrote about how the future of GPS would change how we use our smartphones. The article was mostly about the changing fundamentals of GPS technology, but the implications were that more accurate and communicative positioning devices would also change the ways in which we use the technology. Now two years further into the future, we’re beginning to see that change take effect, as GPS is being used for far more than finding the way to an unfamiliar destination across town.
We tend to think of GPS systems as relating exclusively to vehicles and maps. That’s to say, you’re either using a GPS program in your car to find your way somewhere, or you’re plugging in addresses or coordinates on an online map to determine distances or satisfy a curiosity. But one of the most promising modern applications of GPS actually shrinks things down to a much smaller and more precise level. As explained at A Place For Mom, we’re beginning to see caregivers make use of tiny GPS devices in order to keep tabs on seniors and other people who may need monitoring. It’s something you may not have considered unless you’ve personally cared for an elderly friend or family member, but in some cases people who require regular assistance develop a tendency to wander off or get lost accidentally. GPS can now be used to track such people’s exact whereabouts, or simply to sound an alert if these people leave pre-determined areas.

On a somewhat-similar level, Networkfleet posted an article explaining how GPS can also be used to assist the visually impaired, and in some cases potentially replace guide dogs. An app has been developed by a company called Sendero Group LLC that is meant to alert its users to “points of interest” and cross streets while they’re out and about. Think of it like the small sounds you hear at crosswalks designed to help visually impaired pedestrians know when it’s safe to cross the street, only more detailed and tailored to an individual’s path. The same app supports a “look around wand” that tells users what’s in the way when they point it. It also saves routing information to building entrances and other locations people may visit repeatedly. All of this is accomplished through a precise GPS that recognizes not just streets and routes but objects and obstacles in a person’s immediate vicinity.
And finally, more precise GPS devices for individuals can also be used for tracking the whereabouts of children.Mashable pointed to a handful of specific devices that can parents can use to be sure of their children’s whereabouts at all times. Some would naturally consider this a restriction of childhood freedoms, and even some parents are uncomfortable with the concept of surveillance at this level. However, when considered as a safeguard against emergencies, such systems have immense value. There’s very real potential for GPS-based programs to drastically reduce the number of child disappearances, not to mention alleviate a lot of parents’ stress!
These are just a few examples of how the nature of GPS is shifting thanks to modern technology. Some are anxious that the improving quality of GPS systems and the expansion of their use is opening the door for problematic things like government surveillance of individual activity, or even mistrust among friends and family. However, as the examples above make clear, there are also some significant benefits to be enjoyed from improving and expanding GPS programs.

Future - Concept VR headset for 2020


Everybody’s talking about VR headsets nowadays. How about the future? What will the virtual reality devices of the future look like?  Concept virtual reality, light and shadow, are intended for two different experiments. 
Shadow, hoodie with a built-in mask, designed for maximum immersion in virtual reality. VR device is powered by a portable mini computer, which makes it completely wireless and autonomous. Shadow is focused on hardcore gamers, who can pull a hoodie over his head and immediately interact with the virtual world. Still, hoody has a number of technologies that help players stay in touch with the real world. Built-in front camera tracks gestures and streaming video in real time to provide players with an opportunity to understand when other people are in the room. The mask also has an external screen, which will show owners what the player sees. This high-tech product, which is, in appearance as a “social shield” or additional screen, allows to attend to other people in the virtual experience. 
Suit Light, on the other hand, for the conventional VR members, although it uses many of the same technology as the shadow suit. This is a wireless connection to a computer or game console, and is placed around the head like a hood. As the shadow of a suit has camera motion tracking that allows the owner to see what is happening around him. Audio system allows players to hear outside sounds, giving the owner more direct communication with the outside world.  The whole array of gadgets is very light and comfy.

HOW TO RUN ANDROID GAMES AND APPLICATIONS ON PC

Once you have downloaded and installed Bluestacks, the next thing you need to do is open Bluestacks and follow the steps mentioned below:-
Step 1: When you will run the Bluestacks for the first time you will be asked to insert your Google Account details. Insert the Google Account details so that, that account can be synced with Google Play market.
Step 2: Once your account is synced you are ready to go. Open the home of Bluestacks by clicking on Bluestacks icon and you will see a search field there. Type and name of app or game there.
Let me explain you this with the help of an example:- In the Search field enter “Whats App” (without quotes).
You will see What’s App on the homepage and will also see an Install Button present there. Click on Install button and the app will start downloading. The download time will take depending on your internet’s speed.
Step 3: Now open the app. When you will open the app for the first time you will be asked to enter your mobile number.  Provide correct mobile number as this number will get a verification code which will be used to authenticate your What’s app account.  Now you have verified the account you can easily use What’s app from your computer.
If you want to see which applications are installed on your system, you can open the “My Apps” area and see all the apps which are present on your system. Open the “Top Charts” section to see the apps which are being most downloaded by people on the Google Play market. You can even sync apps from your PC to your Android smartphone or from your Android smartphone to your PC using Cloud Connect.

FUTURE – ROBOT WITH A WOMAN’S FACE
